Asian Games 2018 Secretary General visits FAI HQ

The FAI would like to thank Asian Games 2018 Secretary General, Air Marshal Eris Herryanto of the Indonesian Armed Forces, for his recent visit to the federation’s Head Office in Lausanne, Switzerland.

During his meeting with FAI Secretary General Susanne Schödel, the Air Marshal expressed his appreciation of the cooperation between the FAI and the organising committee behind last year’s Asian Games in Indonesia, and said how pleased he was to see the popularity of air sports growing so quickly in Asia over recent years.

The two air sports enthusiasts also swapped stories, with Herryanto describing his love of flying trikes and practising aerobatics in his Pitts biplane.

About the 2018 Asian Games

The 2018 Asian Games ran from 18 August to 2 September, beginning with an Opening Ceremony at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium in Jakarta, Indonesia on 18 August.

Both cross-country (XC) and accuracy paragliding made their debut at this 18th edition of the Asian Games, which included a total of 47 sports, including tennis, archery and golf.

It was a huge event involving athletes from across Asia. Close to 100 athletes from 18 nations took part in the paragliding events alone.
