2023 FAI e-Drone Racing Cup

Format of the event

For the qualification stage and the elimination round, all pilots fly from their home ('Remote' piloting). This means theu uses their own computer, had to be aware of the time zone differences, and be sure their internet connection is enough stable.

For the final stage, most of the 32 pilots concerned were present on the 2023 World Drone Racing Championship venue, and so were flying in the same place ('Local' piloting) on dediocated computers with a high quality internet connection. Those who were not on the venue were still remote piloting. So, there was an 'hybrid' bracket with both remote and local pilots in the same bracket.

Qualification stage

Flights for the qualification stage are called 'asynchronous' considering every pilot flies alone without being impacted by the other pilots flying at the same moment.

The qualification stage ranking had been done considering the fastest time to complete 3 (three) consecutive laps.

12 attempts maximum authorised for every pilot to register times on three consecutive laps.

The attempts were possible whenever during the qualification period, on the same day or on different days, and at any time of each day.

Qualification period: Friday 1st September 00:00 GMT time to Sunday 24th September 24:00 GMT time.

Elimination round

After the qualification stage, an elimination round will be run with the 64 best placed pilots and 8 pilots per race.

The 4 best placed pilots in each race of the elimination round will be qualified for the final stage (32 pilots qualified).

The elimination round had been run on Saturday 30th September at 12:00 GMT time.

Final stage

The final stage had been run during the 2023 FAI World Drone Racing Championship (WDRC) with successive rounds (1/8th finals, 1/4 finals, semi-finals and final) and 4 pilots per race.
